About Us
Unbreaking was born from the belief that healing isn’t just about mending wounds. It’s about transforming them into gold. Inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, we honor the cracks in our lives, our communities, and our systems as places of strength, beauty, and resilience.

We exist to support those who feel outside the mainstream: LGBTQIA+, ENM, BIPOC, neurodivergent, non-Christian and questioning, and other alternative communities. Through workshops, circles, and gatherings, we bring people together to share wisdom, resources, and healing. Our vision is a world where nobody has to break alone, where the work of repair is collective, and where everyone’s unique gold can shine.

✨ Our Team

Keera Joel — President / Founder (she/they)

Keera is part of the BIPOC, queer, genderfluid, alternative communities and is a holistic therapist, yoga guide, body worker, and community organizer whose work is rooted in depth psychology, somatic practice, and soulful connection. She founded Unbreaking to create spaces where people can heal, learn, and thrive together, especially those whose lives, identities, or businesses don’t fit neatly into the mainstream. Keera believes in the power of community, ritual, and embodied care to transform wounds into wisdom.

Kris Hietala — Treasurer (he/him)
Kris has completed the same trauma-conscious yoga teacher training and Sacred Counsel training as Keera, grounding his work in somatic awareness, presence, and care. Having lived between mainstream culture and alternative communities, he serves as a thoughtful translator between worlds, helping people feel understood and supported across differences.

Kris is deeply committed to healing the impacts of generational trauma and brings a systems-aware, heart-centered perspective to Unbreaking’s mission. He is especially drawn to sacred geometry as a way of exploring order, meaning, and interconnectedness, and he offers this lens as part of his broader dedication to community care and collective healing.

Jerod Spray — Secretary (he/him)
Jerod is a kind, warm soul who moves with ease in alternative circles and believes deeply in the freedom for people to enjoy life and return to their truest selves. He brings a spirit of gentleness, openness, and authenticity to the board, helping to hold space where people can shed old patterns, rediscover joy, and feel safe in their own becoming.

✨ Together, we weave gold into the cracks, building community, resilience, and spaces of belonging where healing and wholeness can flourish.

Our Initiatives
At Unbreaking, we believe that what is broken can be made whole again, not by hiding the cracks, but by honoring them. Our initiatives are designed to support individuals and communities in remembering their inherent worth, reclaiming their power, and rising together.

Healing & Resilience
We create spaces for people to process trauma, loss, and harm in ways that are holistic, embodied, and compassionate. Through workshops, circles, and one-on-one guidance, we help individuals cultivate resilience, practice self-compassion, and rediscover their wholeness.

Community Connection
Isolation deepens wounds. Connection heals them. Unbreaking hosts community gatherings that bring people together in safety and solidarity. These events are designed to weave strong networks of care, so no one has to carry their pain alone.
Education & Empowerment
We believe that knowledge is a form of liberation. Our educational initiatives focus on practical tools for navigating relationships, boundaries, and self-trust, whether that’s identifying manipulation, building consent culture, or learning how to stand in your own truth. We empower people with the skills they need to thrive.
Restorative Justice & Repair
We are committed to fostering cultures of accountability and repair. Unbreaking offers resources and guidance for navigating conflict, addressing harm, and practicing repair, not as punishment, but as an opportunity for growth, reconciliation, and deeper connection.
Advocacy & Outreach
Healing does not stop at the personal level. It must ripple outward into systems and communities. Unbreaking partners with other organizations to advocate for trauma-informed care, inclusive practices, and social change that supports the dignity of every person.
Creative Expression
Art has the power to mend what words cannot reach. Through storytelling, ritual, and creative projects, we help individuals express their journeys, honor their scars, and find meaning in the process of becoming whole again.

Unbreaking is more than an organization. It’s a movement, a movement toward wholeness, toward resilience, toward love that does not flinch at brokenness but meets it with gold.
