Community Agreements & Care Policy

Unbreaking gatherings are rooted in care, respect, and shared responsibility. Our goal is to create spaces where people can show up authentically while protecting the well-being of the whole.

We welcome people from many walks of life, identities, and communities. Participation is open to all respectful folks as long as individual behavior does not cause harm to others or to the group as a whole.

Care for the Whole

  • We ask participants to be mindful that their actions, words, and presence affect others.

  • Behavior that repeatedly disrupts, intimidates, or harms the group may result in being asked to step back from events.

  • Boundaries are not punishments. They are part of collective care.

Own Your Experience

  • Speak from your own lived experience using “I” statements.

  • Avoid assuming intent or projecting meaning onto others.

  • Everyone’s feelings are valid, but each person is responsible for tending to their own emotional responses.

Confidentiality

  • What is shared in Unbreaking spaces stays in Unbreaking spaces.

  • Do not share others’ stories, identities, or personal information outside the group without explicit consent.

  • This includes conversations, disclosures, and attendance.

Advice & Fixing

  • Please do not offer advice, solutions, or interpretations unless someone clearly asks for them.

  • Listening, witnessing, and curiosity are often more supportive than fixing.

Respectful Communication

  • We ask that participants engage with curiosity rather than combativeness.

  • Disagreement is okay. Dismissiveness, condescension, or hostility are not.

  • This is not a space for debate, dominance, or proving a point.

Scent & Sensory Care

Many participants are scent-sensitive, have allergies, migraines, asthma, or other health needs. To help keep this space accessible and welcoming for all, we ask that folks be mindful of strong scents.

Please avoid:

  • extra strong perfumes, colognes, or heavily scented products

  • overwhemling lingering cannabis or cigarette smoke on clothing or hair

  • strong body odors that may impact others’ ability to comfortably share space

Inclusion & Belonging

  • We welcome neurodivergent, gender-expansive, queer, alternative, and other non-mainstream folks.

  • All are welcome to be themselves, as long as that self-expression does not infringe on others’ safety or consent.

Participation Is Optional

  • All activities are invitational.

  • You are always welcome to observe, pass, or take space as needed.

  • There is no pressure to share or perform vulnerability.

Zero Tolerance for Harm

  • Harassment, coercion, boundary violations, hate speech, or repeated disregard for community agreements are not permitted.

  • Facilitators reserve the right to intervene or ask someone to leave if necessary to protect the space.

Our Shared Intention

Unbreaking exists to foster connection, reduce shame, and support healing through community care. We ask everyone who enters these spaces to help hold that intention with us.

If you have questions, concerns, or needs around access or accommodation, we invite you to reach out.
